World’s largest Stone

April 11, 2009

There are several search that people give in the google.Occationally I found that there were 48000 searches for the largest stone in the world. And I noticed one potential reply to all those searches. So I thought I would share the largest rock dimensions and features with the largest world :-)[ad#ldpost]

In Central Australia, at the eastern edge of the Gibson Desert, there is a sandstone horst, Ayers Rock, appreciated to be “the world’s largest rock”, rising 348 m (1,142 ft) over the desert plateau (its maximum height is of 863 m (2,831 ft)), with a circumference of 9.4 km (5.8 mi).
This is what erosion left from an ancient mountain. It has many springs, waterholes, rock caves and ancient paintings, being listed as a World Heritage Site for its natural and man-made attributes. Also called Uluru, the rock is sacred to the Pitjantjatjara and Yankunytjatjara, the Aboriginal people of the area.

Mount Olga, located 25 km to the west, is a group of such smaller monoliths, which occupy a surface of 21.7 square km. At the highest point, Mount Olga is 1066 m above sea level, or approximately 546 m above the surrounding plain. It is composed of conglomerate, a sedimentary rock consisting of cobbles and boulders of varying rock types including granite and basalt, cemented by a matrix of sandstone.[ad#ad-2hb]The Pinnacles Desert is included in Nambung National Park (Western Australia), near the town of Cervantes, and 300 km of Perth. From the yellow-oranged sand of the desert thousands of “pinnacles” gush. Some are 3.5 m (12 ft) tall, others are as big as a digit.
conglomerate, a sedimentary rock consisting of cobbles and boulders of varying rock types including granite and basalt, cemented by a matrix of sandstone.

All these rocks offer in the sunlight special visual effects and change color as the different light strikes them at different times of the day and year, glowing red on the sunset. During wet periods the Ayers Rock acquires a silvery-grey color, with streaks of black algae forming on the areas that serve as channels for water flow.
They are located at 335 km (208 mi) west of Alice Springs, the closest city.
In this areal there’s a typical vegetation made of desert oak (Acacia coriacea), ironwood (Casuarina equisetifolia), bloodwood (Corymbia opaca), Spinifex grass, while the fauna is represented by kangaroos, wallabies, dingo, emu and many other marsupials. The Pinnacles are limestone formations, eroded by wind in interesting shapes, being golden-yellow, lined with white, pink, purple or brown.

Some are smooth, other are rugged. The raw material for the limestone of the Pinnacles came from seashells in an earlier epoch rich in marine life, during the Ice Age, when the seabed nearby was greatly exposed. These shells were broken down into lime rich sands which were carried inland by wind to form high mobile dunes. Due to a wetter climate, the vegetation was stimulated, fixing the dunes, and giving the yellow-golden color. The Pinnacles were formed from lime leaching from the sand and by rain cementing the lower levels of the dune into a soft limestone.
Vegetation forms an acidic layer of soil and humus. A hard cap of calcrete developed above the softer limestone. Cracks in the calcrete were exploited by plant roots.
The softer limestone continued to dissolve and quartz sand filled the channels.
Centuries ago, another “wave” of sand carried by the wind suffocated the vegetation. Without it, the sand loosened and was blown away by the wind, revealing the lime pinnacles. [ad#ad-2hb]

April 11, 2009

G stands for generation. so 2G is a second generation phone and 3g third generation. They are the technical developmaents of the mobile phones for time to time .

For instance 1G phone used Analog signals . 2G were wireless and digital and 3G technology uses enhanced mobile phone standards . One can simultaneously transfer both voice data and non voice data e.g emails , sms . 3G phone are mainly known for vedio telephony .

Japan was the first country to introduce 3G technology.3G phone were introduced in Europe in 2003. As of now appox 50% of the subscribers use 3G phone . there is a transition seen from 3 to 3.5G , that is between 3G and 4G.

In terms of the spectrum (or the band width ) 1G used frm 2oohz to 3000hz.2G uses from 15 to 20 Mhz . and 3G needs a huge and width.

There are about 60 3G networks across 25 countries. In Asia , europe and the USA . telecom firms uses WCDMA technology.

This high growth in telephone technology has resulted in improving 3G to 4G. currently japanese company NTT DoCoMo and Samsung are testing 4G communications..

Why is China Mobile banned?

April 10, 2009

The Intelligence beaurou of India issued a notice to ban all the China made mobile . The ban was imposed after finding the fact that the mobiles were used y the terrorist , as they were not easily traceable . This news resulted in a wide spread criticism of all china based products . China is the biggest mobile phone market on earth . The ban in India is going the affect its position . We are Awaiting what step will the PRC is goin to take on this issue .

The china mobile cannot be used after april 2009 according to the notice .the reasons behind the bans are as follows:

1>It doesn’t have an IP address

2>china mobile used by the terrorist

3>does not have proper international mobile equipment identity number

4>It will be difficult to trace the phones without imei numbe

5>do not pose any warranty or guarantee.

6>high radiation

Considering the above fact , the notice issued y the IB seems to be valid enough . but there is another side of the story too . It might be possible that the all the major cellular services in India hav set a conspiracy against the china mobile . China mobiles have lot of advantages over the others . It has all the latest feature and it very cheap. easily affordale by a common man . This has lead to its popularity and the other companies were losing market in India , a land of billion people , a mamoth market which no one would like to leave so easily . Its is thus a rumour that this might be a cunning deal between Indian gov and the other cellular behemoths .
